It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Martin Thompson, age 81, of Moss Bluff, who left us on July 13, 2025. He was born on May 28, 1944, the son of the late William and Betty Thompson.
Martin grew up in the Lake Charles area and became a skilled machinist. He was also known for his exceptional craftsmanship in carpentry work. A true jack-of-all-trades, he could fix just about anything, often lending his hands and heart to anyone in need. Outside of his work, he had a deep love for fishing and hunting, enjoying the outdoors whenever he could. He was also of the Catholic faith and attended St. Theodore Catholic Church in Moss Bluff. He also served his country in the US Air Force.
However, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. His love for his late wife, Sue Thompson, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was immeasurable. He adored his four grandsons and was overjoyed by his great-grandchildren.
Anyone who had the opportunity of knowing Mr. Martin loved him for his big heart and his vibrant personality. He always had the biggest smile and could make anyone laugh, lighting up the room with his infectious energy.
Martin's memory will be treasured by his two sons, Shane (Kammie) Thompson, David (Julie) Thompson; his four grandsons, Gabe (McKenzie) Thompson, Will (Maddison) Thompson, Jordan Thompson and Dylan Thompson; his great-grandchildren, River, Luke and Stratton Thompson; and his sister, Marsha McMullen.
He was preceded in death by his loving and cherished wife, Sue Thompson; his parents, William and Betty Thompson; and his niece, Melissa Landry.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday July 17, 2025 at Hixson Funeral Homes of Moss Bluff from 11:00 AM until time of services officiated by Reverend Aubrey Guilbeau and Reverend James Lueckenhoff at 1:00 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 12:30 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather as we honor a man who left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Theodore's Catholic Church in Moss Bluff
