Mary Gail Whitfield

Mary faithfully attended church at St. Margaret and St. Theodore Catholic Church and prayed her Rosary daily. She loved to sew, bake, cook, and tend to her flower garden.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Hilman Charles Whitfield; her parents; and grandson, Joseph Scott Whitfield; and brother, John Hugh Dufour.

Those left to cherish her memory are children, Karen Crochet and husband Larry of Moss Bluff, Phillip Whitfield and wife Sally of Moss Bluff, and Scott Whitfield and wife Tricia of Moss Bluff; brother-in-laws, Elward Whitfield and wife Beryl of Metairie, and Burton Whitfield of Houma; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and sister, Cynthia Plauche of Baton Rouge.

The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Thursday, June 18, 2026 beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service to begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be immediately following at Old Ritchie Cemetery.
