Morris was born and grew up in Maurice Town, NJ. He joined the United States Airforce in 1951 and served his country until 1955 and was Honorably discharged. During his military service he was stationed at Chennault Airforce base. Morris worked in the oil field business with Schlumberger for 14 years and then with Conoco and retiring after 25 plus years of service. Morris was an active member of the Masons for 60 years, a charter member of the Habibi Shriners and the Scottish and York rites, Eastern Star and past Master of the Moss Bluff Lodge. He was also a member of The First Baptist church of Moss Bluff. He loved woodworking and camping.
Morris is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Yvonne Herbert; son Richard Herbert; brothers, George Herbert Jr, and Billy Herbert; sisters, Rose Stevens, Marie Wills; granddaughter, Leeanne Herbert.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Randall and wife Cathy of Moss Bluff; daughter, Kayla Herbert Bordelon and husband, Glen of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Darlin Riggin of Port Norris, NJ, Verna Bradway of New Port Richey, FL; grandchildren, Ryan and Joshua Herbert, Jonathan Herbert, Jennifer Dronet, Ashlyn Chiang Lopez, Jacob Bordelon; Four great grandchildren, and one on the way.
Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 9am-11am Funeral service will begin at 11am. Burial to follow at Old Ritchie Cemetery.
