Phil was a native of Lake Charles and grew up there and in Ragley. He was a 1977 graduate of South Beauregard High School. He worked for nearly 40 years as a welder, traveling to different parts of the United States. Phillip was a gregarious, creative and thoughtful person with an exceptional sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing, building projects and traveling, especially trips to the mountains.
Survivors include his fiance', Pauline Wilcox; his children, Kimberly Voorhies and Brian Voorhies; his siblings, Lynette Voorhies Hanks, Douglas Voorhies and wife Dori, Gregory Voorhies and wife Ranee', Michael Voorhies and wife Natalie, Lisa Voorhies, Laurie Voorhies Colgin and husband Lynn; his grandchildren, Samantha, Chloe, Maddie, and Haylee; and his great grandchildren, Michael, Axel and Logan. He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Delsie Voorhies.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 12th in Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Pastor David Lilly will officiate. Pallbearers will be Michael Voorhies, Douglas Voorhies, Christopher Voorhies, Joey Guidry, Justin Brown and T.J. Wilcox. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley.
