Raleigh Francis Parra

He was born on August 8, 1946 to Francis Jesty Parra and Irene Enezile Guidry Parra in Thibodaux, LA.

He graduated from Thibodaux High School in 1964 and attended Sowela Tech and McNeese State University.

He was a resident of Lake Charles since 1974. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff and was a US Army Veteran from 1964-1970 where he was a Teletypewriter Repairman- Spec E-4 stationed in Germany. He gave his life to Christ at the age of 33. He loved his Christian and Cajun Music and working in his yard. He retired from ConocoPhillips after 18 years as a Pipefitter, 5 years with Boeing as Aircraft Mechanic and 11 years with Dresser Atlas Industries in Houma, LA and Lake Charles as an Electronic Lab Technician and Senior Loader- Supervisor. He loved cooking, being with his grandchildren and taking care of his family.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; brother, David James Parra; niece, Christine Elizabeth Hebert; father-in-law, Elmer Lonnie Faulk; brother-in-law, Michael Steven Faulk.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lou Wanna Faulk Parra; daughters, Tamra Leigh Parra Vanicor Parker of Moss Bluff and Jessica Lou Parra and companion Kelvin Mott of Lake Charles; Grandchildren, Aaron Gage Vanicor, Destiny Kayleigh Parker and Breegan Danielle Newble; sister, Miriam Parra Hebert Moore and husband, Charlie of Niceville, FL; niece, Sharon Hebert Maumus and husband, Charles of Franklin, TN; mother-in-law, Opal Powell Faulk of Lake Charles; brother-in-laws, Roger Dale Faulk and wife Hilda of Lake Charles, Jeffrey Scott Faulk and wife Patricia of Lake Charles and Elmer Eugene Faulk of Lake Charles.

Family will be receiving guests at 12 noon, Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Memorial service will begin at 2pm. Pastor Paul A. Estes, Hospice Chaplain, Christian Family Fellowship of Christ, Jennings, LA. will be officiating. The family would like to thank the staff of Heart of Hospice for their dedication and support.
