

He entered into eternal rest and joined his beloved wife Eileen, of 53 years, his parents, Thelma and Charlie Bruce and brother, Doyle Bruce.
Robert was born March 23, 1933 to Charles (Charlie) and Thelma Bruce in Moss Bluff, Louisiana. He graduated Gillis High School in 1951. Following his love to travel, he joined the United States Navy. He served in the Korean War as a boilermaker on the LMS 451 and the USS Manchester, which was deployed with the 7th Fleet in the Western Pacific. While stationed in Long Beach, California he met the love of his life, Eileen Dombrowski, who always affectionately referred to him as the "Old Goat" and they were married in 1953. Upon his release from the Navy in 1956, they returned to reside in Moss Bluff, Louisiana. Robert attended trade school and learned his trade as a pipefitter/welder. He worked at Olin Mathesion, Hercules/Himont/Lyondell Chemical plants, where he was well known for his duck and squirrel gumbo. He was an avid gardener and loved sharing his knowledge with his grandkids and great¬-grand kids and passing along the fruits of their labor to family and friends. Robert attended St. Theodore's Catholic Church in Moss Bluff where he served as an usher.
Robert was avid collector of bulldozers and tractors, as well as other pieces of junk. He was always shopping around for another toy and managed to find every auction that he could attend. He will always be remembered for inventing and fashioning many items including his famous "Goose-call", which has been famously used by the Habetz family to fool many family members, friends and avid hunters for over 44 years.
In his later years, he studied the art of stained glass with Frank Thompson and created many beautiful pieces for his family and friends including door transoms and sidelights. He loved to visit the local barber shop and entertain the customers with his childhood stories. He will always be remembered as a generous, loving, God-fearing father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Andrea Bruce Habetz and her husband David of Ragley, his son, Robert F. Bruce, Jr and his wife Anita of Moss Bluff; six grandchildren, Adrienne Peresich (Brandon) of Ragley, Alanna Fontenot (Charles) of Broaddus. TX, Adam Habetz (Angela) of Carlyss, Alexis O'Neal (Jacob) of Ragley, Casey Nelson (Amy) of Moss Bluff and Nicholas Bruce (Adriana) of Moss Bluff, as well as his thirteen Great Grandchildren Zachary and Kaden Peresich, Andrew, Madison and Ethan Fontenot, Allison, Dalton, Aileen and Declan Habetz, Alexandra O'Neal, Brady and Miley Nelson and Kody Bruce. He also leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Perry Bruce of Reeves and sister, Nelda Monk of Iowa as well as numerous cousins, including his childhood partners in shenanigans Julian Bruce and Marvin Bruce of Moss Bluff.
Visitation will be Friday, July 21, 2017 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, with a rosary at 7:00pm and resume Saturday at 8:00am until time of service at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 9:30am at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Old Ritchie Cemetery.
