Shirley was born on September 01, 1936, to Philip Hawkins and Betty Lou Cash. A lifelong resident of Westlake, she graduated from Westlake High School and was a devoted member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Richard "Art" Guthrie; parents, Philip Hawkins and Betty Lou; sons, Mike and Pat Guthrie; daughter, Chrissy Guthrie Simpson; grandson, David Paul Guthrie; and sister, Gaynell Hawkins Chue.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Buller(Roland); son, Greg Guthrie; daughter-in-law, Denise Guthrie; son-in-law, Terry Simpson; nine beloved grandchildren, Tara Hill(Bryan), Eric Guthrie(Shelley), Andy Guthrie(Dixie), Candace Buller(John), Jordan Buller, Jarrett Buller(Kayte), Justin Squibb(Cindy), Carlee Simpson(Jose), and Lee Simpson(Makayla); 16 cherished great grandchildren; and her sister, Jerry Corbello.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of High Hope Care Center and Brighton Bridge Hospice for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Shirley and her loved ones.
The family will receive loved ones and friends for visitation at Hixson Moss Bluff (150 Bruce Cir. Moss Bluff, LA,70611) on Saturday, August 08, 2026, at 8:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am. Visitation will resume until the time of procession to the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Bosco Church in Westlake, LA. Services will be officiated by Rev.Reuben Buller.
Graveside services will follow Mass at Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake, LA.
