Judy G. Haase
March 7, 1934 – February 9, 2019
Judith “Judy” Georgia Haase died on February 9, 2019 in Moulton, Texas after 84 years of a joyous and full life.
Judy was born on March 7, 1934 in Ammansville, Texas to Ludvik B. Kossa and Annie (Dusek) Kossa of Ammansville.
Judy’s lifelong work of caring and looking after others began early as she left Ammansville to study and take a job in nursing at Huth Memorial Hospital in Yoakum, Texas. It was during this time and by happenstance that Judy met the love of her life, Herbert Roy Haase of Moulton, Texas. They married in June of 1953 at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ammansville and established their homestead together in Moulton where they raised three children - Curtis Eugene, Marilyn Joy, and Howard James. Together, they worked very hard to care and provide for their children. Judy took a break from nursing to care for their children and run the homestead. She tirelessly tended to the daily duties of running the household while watching their children as they created miniature air fields and farmsteads in the front yard. She poured her love into many home cooked meals and birthday cakes for her husband and children. Eventually, Judy returned to nursing by taking a job at Shady Oaks Nursing Home in Moulton, Texas. There, she continued to care for the well-being of others until her retirement in 2002, 50 years after first obtaining her license. Judy understood the significance of her duty as a nurse and care-giver as every human life is precious from the first day to the very last.
As a grandmother, Judy created the comfort of home and belonging for her grandchildren who spent nearly every other weekend with her. Every single holiday ushered the adornment of fun decorations and craft activities. She was constantly on the move packing lunches for pic-nicks under the old Fairy Oak tree, adventures on the creek, and front-yard fort making while she tended to her plants and hung the laundry out to dry. She frequented Saturday evening mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, many times with grandchildren in tow. At the end of a full day, she could be found sitting in her chair, alongside her beloved Herbert, working on a cross-word puzzle, catching the nightly news and giving sleepinducing foot massages to her grandchildren. While she was a very hard worker, her hand-written notes stashed here and there indicate she kept a witty sense of humor. Judy was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and nurse as she embodied the essence of unconditional love, care and kindness. For this she will be missed immensely and remembered with deep adoration.
