Shirley lived her life with boldness and creativity and was known for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She found joy in baking, gardening, and sewing, and was an active member of her church and the Red Hats community.
She could often be found at her sewing machine, carefully crafting quilts—each one a unique work of art gifted to family, friends, and those in need. Through every stitch and every creation, she expressed a love that words could never fully capture.
When not at her sewing machine, Shirley could be found sitting peacefully on her porch swing beside the pond, surrounded by her vibrant blooms. This life of beauty was shared with her beloved husband, David Vukmanic. Married on February 12, 1973, the couple celebrated 53 wonderful years together.
Her memory is carried on by her husband, David; daughter, Shandar Hamon; and son, David Vukmanic. Shirley also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in her death by her parents, Pete and Irene Kandros, and her brother, Larry Kandros.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant something beautiful or create something by hand, honoring the way Shirley lived. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Shirley’s bold spirit, creative heart, and deep love for her family will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.
Though she has “exchanged her red hat for a crown,” her family holds fast to the promise of John 11:25-26: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”
