Lorna Smith, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. Lorna was the daughter of Julius and Elfriede Mannheimer and is survived by her son David and daughter-in-law Mary Susan, as well as her many dear friends. Lorna had a more than 35-year career at the U.S. Postal Service. Upon retiring, she completed her graduate studies, culminating in a master's degree in Urban Studies from Queens College. She transitioned to a second career educating early elementary school children and children with developmental disabilities. Lorna wore many other hats including travel agent, toastmaster, notary, and even Avon Associate. She enjoyed travel, theater, movies, books, good food, and debate. Her dedication, generosity, and loyalty will be missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to CityMeals on Wheels, UJA Federation of NY, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
