July 5, 1934 – October 21, 2026
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our mother, Myrna Boyet, on October 21, 2026, at the age of 92. She lived a long and full life, filled with family, friendships, travel, and the things she loved most. While we are grateful for the many years we had with her, saying goodbye is never easy, no matter how much time you have together. We will miss her dearly and cherish the memories she leaves behind.
Born on July 5, 1934, in Liberty, New York, Myrna spent much of her early childhood in the Bronx before returning to Liberty, where she graduated from high school. She continued her education at Hunter College in New York City, earning a degree in Home Economics and later a master's degree.
Myrna married in New York City in 1963 and welcomed her son, Glenn, in the Bronx the following year. In 1968, the family settled in Somers, New York, where her daughter, Elissa, was born in 1969. The family moved across town to Granite Springs in 1972, where Myrna spent the next 19 years before returning to the other side of Somers in 1991, making her home in Heritage Hills. After more than five decades in the community she called home, Myrna relocated to the Charlotte, North Carolina area in 2019 to be closer to Elissa.
Myrna was actively involved in her children's lives. She made the weekly 45-minute drive to the JCC in Scarsdale for Glenn's swimming lessons and frequently took her children to the Bronx to visit their grandfather, often stopping at a favorite Bronx deli. She also introduced them to Broadway shows and Hungarian meals in New York City, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Myrna was a wonderful cook and baker who also took great pride in her home. At the family's Granite Springs home, she planted pachysandra that grew and flourished over the years, and each spring, she looked forward to planting begonias and geraniums along the front of the house. She was also a lifelong dog lover, a passion she shared with Elissa, and the two enjoyed spending time together attending local dog shows.
Later in life, Myrna began a second career in real estate, becoming a successful broker. She started at Houlihan Lawrence and later joined Coldwell Banker. While she took pride in her work, it was the people she met and the many friendships she formed along the way that made those years especially meaningful. Several of those friendships continued long after her real estate career ended.
Myrna loved to travel, even if she was sometimes a little nervous before boarding a plane. She visited Hungary, Yugoslavia, and Austria with Glenn, and later traveled to France and Israel with Elissa. She also enjoyed trips to Switzerland with her dear friend Lenora Macri, as well as travels with her beloved companion, Rolf Hildinger. Her adventures included England, Germany, Scotland, Ireland, and a memorable cruise through the Panama Canal. Although she saw much of the world, Alaska remained the one destination she wished she had visited. Closer to home, Cape Cod always held a special place in her heart and remained her favorite vacation destination.
One particularly special memory was attending a Billy Joel concert with Elissa in 2022. Myrna had wanted to see him perform ever since Elissa attended his Bridge Tour in December 1986. After a two-year postponement due to COVID-19, she finally got her wish, 36 years later, making the evening especially meaningful for them both.
Myrna is survived by her son, Glenn Boyet, granddaughter Katia Boyet and daughter, Elissa Boyet, along with her beloved grand puppies, Jasper, Samson, and Penny, and grand cats, Bela and Blaze. Her beloved grand puppies and grand cats brought her so much joy and companionship over the years, and they, too, will miss her dearly.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Briar Creek, particularly Debbie Hammontree, Pam Briles, Tracy Hall, Yashica Joseph, and Shakira Green, affectionately known as “Red.” We are especially grateful to her caregivers, Natasha Paris, Jackie Allen, and Derika Moore, as well as the wonderful team at VIA Hospice. Their kindness, compassion, and dedication made a meaningful difference in our mother's life and brought us comfort and peace of mind. We will always be grateful for the care they provided.
There are more memories from Myrna's 92 years than we could ever put into words. We will remember her for the wonderful meals she prepared, her love of animals, her sense of adventure, and the many experiences she shared with us. Above all, we will remember the love she gave us and the life she created for our family.
We will miss her more than words can express, but the memories we made together will remain with us always.
