Joseph Kent Turner, 52, passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2026, leaving behind a space in this world that cannot be filled. He was a man of deep kindness, a gentle soul whose heart was always open to others, even after enduring many trials throughout his life. Through it all, he held tightly to what mattered most—love, family, and the simple joys that made him who he was.
He had a gift for making people laugh, often brightening even the heaviest of days with his humor and warmth. He was endlessly curious and found joy in exploring any new electronic gadget he could get his hands on, always eager to learn, tinker, and share his discoveries with those around him. He also had a unique and cherished fascination with all things Bigfoot, a passion that brought him both amusement and a sense of wonder.
Joe served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Texas, Houston East Mission. Along with his faith, at the center of his world was his family and his beloved dog, Abby, who was a constant companion and source of comfort. The bond they shared was unmistakable and deeply meaningful.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gary Lee Turner and Carole Fitzgerald Roberts, and his stepfather, William Hernan Roberts.
He is survived by his devoted dog, Abby; his stepmother, Carolyn Jean Turner; his brother, Robert Fitzgerald Turner; his sisters, Meridyth Neale Harrison (James) and Pamela Catharine Turner; and his nieces and nephews, Liam Turner (Samantha and their children, Marjorie Joy and Ophelia Alix), Aubrynn Harrison, Ian Harrison, Ashton Harrison, and Makenna Harrison. He is also survived by extended family and friends who will carry his memory with them always.
Joe will be remembered for his kind heart, his humor, his curiosity, and his unwavering love for those closest to him. Though he is gone too soon, the laughter he shared and the love he gave will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor May 16, 2026, at 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1333 Eastern Parkway, Louisville, KY.
