Randall Eugene Wilson, age 61, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. He was born on November 11, 1964, and was a lifelong resident of Louisville, Kentucky. Randall loved Jesus with his whole heart, and although his unexpected passing has left an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him, we find comfort knowing that he is now in the presence of his Savior. We can picture Randall dancing in Heaven, free from every earthly burden and surrounded by the love and glory of Jesus. Randall was a loving soulmate, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He had a big heart and a deep love for the people and things that meant the most to him. He had a lifelong passion for horses and spent much of his life as a horse jockey, a chapter of his life that brought him great pride and countless memories. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Peaches. Above all, Randall treasured his family. He found great joy in caring for his wife, Sharon, and making sure she was taken care of. He cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. To his grandchildren, he was lovingly known as “Papaw Cowboy,” a special name that reflected both his love of horses and the unique place he held in their hearts. Randall was also a proud and devoted University of Kentucky fan. He could often be found cheering on the Wildcats, especially during basketball and football season. His love for UK was something he proudly shared with those around him. Randall and his soulmate, Sharon, began their life together in 2008 and were married on June 4, 2016. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, laughter, and countless memories. Their love and devotion to one another remained at the heart of Randall’s life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Wilson. Randall leaves behind his beloved wife and soulmate, Sharon Wilson; his children, Nick Wilson, Brooke Wilson, and Stephanie Ater; his son-in-law, Kyle Ater; and his grandchildren, Reagan Brown, Kynleigh Brown, Embree Ater, and Ryland Ater, who brought immense love and happiness into his life. He is also survived by his mother, Minnie Wilson; his sister, Debbie Blankenship; his bonus daughter, Geneva Elliott; and his bonus grandchildren, Debra Reese and Lisa Newsome.
Though his passing was unexpected and far too soon, we take comfort in knowing that Randall is no longer suffering and has gone home to the Savior he loved so dearly. We imagine him now dancing in Heaven, whole and free, with Jesus. His time on earth may have ended, but the love he gave, the memories he created, and the faith he carried in his heart will live on through the family and friends he leaves behind.
