

He was born on May 10, 1932, to the late William Robert Cornell and Elizabeth Louise Porter Cornell. Frank was a proud member of the Louisville Board of Realtors. He built Cornell Realty, a business that provided opportunities to not only his community but to other communities as well. He spent more than 50 years as a home builder, leaving behind a lasting legacy throughout Bullitt County and surrounding areas. Through his work, he developed many housing communities and helped create places that became homes and memories for countless families.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, he will be remembered most for the way he lived his life. He had a gift for solving problems, lending a helping hand, and being there when others needed him. He spent his lifetime helping people, and many who knew him simply described him as a “good man”. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life and enjoyed attending live country music venues such as Renfro Valley and Lincoln Jamboree.
His impact will live on through the homes he built, the lives he touched, and the kindness he showed throughout his journey. He leaves behind a legacy of craftsmanship, compassion, and a lifetime of service to others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Love Carnes Cornell; two sons, Duane F. Cornell and Daniel K. Cornell.
He is survived by two children, Marilyn Hardy (Bill) and Dale Cornell (Tammie); daughter-in-law, Carole Cornell; brother, Roy Vernon Cornell (Shirley); 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving companion of 30 years, Betty Thornsberry; and her children, Angie Logsdon, Cindy Sellers (Jeff) and Missy Welch (Larry).
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, July 2, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home located at 123 Winning Colors Drive, Mt. Washington, KY, 40047 with burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
Visitation will take place at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, in Mt. Washington on Wednesday, July 1, from 3 pm to 8 pm and on Thursday, July 2, from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers or other memorials, donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
