Born May 5, 1925, in Rock Island, Illinois, Anna lived a vibrant and full life that took her across the country, residing in California, Virginia, and Maryland, before spending her final 20 years in Indiana, most recently making her home in Marion.
Anna’s life was defined by her immense capacity to care for others. She devoted herself as a loving caregiver to her mother and father, and her gentle, affectionate nature extended to everyone she met. To know Anna was to love her.
She had a profound love for babies, found joy in the quiet patience of puzzles, and was always ready for a game of Bingo. Her TV was always on the game channel. A talented hand, she loved sewing and arts and crafts, and her kitchen was a place of legendary warmth-especially at Christmas time, when she baked countless cookies for those she held dear.
Even when life brought its hardships, and there were many, Anna met them with a joyful spirit. She could frequently be found singing and dancing around the kitchen, radiating happiness.
Whenever something did bother her, she would simply shake it off with her trademark phrase, “Fiddle Sticks”, and keep moving forward with grace. Her unwavering faith in God was the anchor of her life, and her family takes great comfort in knowing she is waiting for them in Heaven.
Her beautiful legacy of love survives through her family. She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Helen Sue Carrion and Carol (John) Lilly of Upland, Indiana; her son, Larry Robertson of Washington, D.C.; her grandchildren, Scot (Suzanne) Silvers of Marion, Indiana; Marcia (Warren) Herbin of New Jersey; Christine Silvers of Lebanon, Indiana; Mark (Jenifer) Channel of Shelbyville, Kentucky; Sandy (Sam) McCann of New Jersey; James (Andrea) Silvers of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Bill (Gen) James of California; Pamela (Mike) Smick of Baltimore; and Johnny (Rachel) Lilly of Kokomo. Anna’s love continues to bloom through her 30 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren, and her exceptionally dear friend, Joyce Angstmann.
Anna was preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Karl Havenner; her parents, John and Helen Hansen; her son, Jeff Robertson; her grandsons, David Channel, Brandon Silvers, and Josh Channel; her sisters, Arlene Vaughn and Dorthy Walton; two nephews; and her cherished cat, Sonny.
Family and friends may gather from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304. A funeral service to honor her life will follow at 1:00 PM.
