A graduate of Jasper High School, Anthony came to Hillcroft in September of 2023 and didn’t miss a beat making friends with his roommates and the staff. A southern gentleman at heart, he lived life with authenticity, kindness, and an unmistakable sense of fun.
Music was the soundtrack of his life. He loved to dance, yodel, and celebrate every moment as if it were a party—and often, he was the life of the party. Whether the music was playing or not, his happiness was contagious. You could often find him dressed just the way he liked best: cowboy boots on his feet, camo on his back, and a smile that could brighten even the hardest day.
He took great pride in being part of the Special Olympics, competing on both the bowling and basketball teams. These weren’t just sports to him—they were sources of friendship, confidence, and accomplishment. He showed everyone around him what determination, teamwork, and joy truly look like. Anthony was also active in Baseball Buddies, advocacy groups, and the Muncie Civic Theatre.
A hard worker, he held a job washing cars, where his dedication and enthusiasm shone through. He was deeply proud of his work and excited about his future, eagerly looking forward to continuing to serve and work within his community.
Above all, he was a gift. His laughter, his dancing, his love of music, and his gentle southern charm left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He taught those around him how to celebrate life fully, love freely, and find joy in the simple things. He never missed an opportunity to help others and make them smile.
Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in every song that makes us dance, every pair of cowboy boots, and every moment of shared laughter. His life was one of purpose, joy, and love—and it will forever be remembered.
Anthony is survived by his mother, Tonya Daum; brother, William Smith; his Aunt Lucy; 3 roommates; special friend, Kalab; and the staff at Hillcroft who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in passing by his grandparents, and his Aunt Tammy.
A celebration of Anthony’s life will take place at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4800 West Robinwood Drive, Muncie, Indiana, 47304.
