A 1957 graduate of Muncie Central High School, Arlena went on to work as an Office Manager for Fouch and Mosier Construction for 34 years before moving on to a new chapter of her life at the Village Pantry, where she retired after 4 and a half years. Upon retirement, Arlena and her husband, Paul, moved to Florida. They lived there for 4 years, before returning to Indiana.
A lifelong dog lover, Arlena believed there was no such thing as “just a pet.” Dogs were family, companions, and constant sources of joy. Their home was always warmer—and a little louder—because of wagging tails and unconditional love.
She also found joy in the thrill of NASCAR, cheering on race day with enthusiasm. Whether watching a race or talking about one, she loved the speed, the competition, and the excitement.
Creativity was another deep passion. Arlena loved to paint, leaving behind pieces of art that now mean more than words ever could. Each brushstroke holds a piece of her—memories, emotion, and love—gifts to be cherished by family forever.
Above all, nothing mattered more to Arlena than family. She showed up, stood her ground when it counted, and loved with a loyalty that never wavered. That love will be felt for generations—in stories told, traditions kept, and the quiet moments when her presence is missed most.
Arlena is survived by her daughters, Madonna (Gary) Dooley and DaRhonda (Todd) Brown; daughter-in-law, Sharon (Eric Peterson) Grubbs; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and another great-great-grandchild on the way.
She was preceded in passing by her husband, Paul Grubbs; son, Paul Grubbs Jr.; daughter, Danita Grice; son-in-law, Vince Grice; her parents; brother, Ronnie Miller; and an infant sister.
Family and friends may gather from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Friday, February 6, 2026, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. Entombment will be in Elm Ridge Mausoleum.
