He was born Tuesday, June 1, 1948, the son of Willard and Della (Kennedy) Byrd. Benny proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and the Army National Guard. He was a hard worker, dedicated husband, and outstanding father and friend.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Byrd; sons, Richie (Shonda) Byrd and Tony (Nam) Cowan; daughter, Gina Seifert; grandchildren, Jasper Cowan and Abygail Byrd; and siblings, Jerry Byrd, Glena Flowers, Jimmy Byrd and Berniece Myers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Jennifer Cowan and Vanessa Bobo; a granddaughter, Alyssa Cowan; and a sister, Wilma Griffith.
Services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
