

Betty S. Coffey, 95, died Sunday in the care of the hospice staff at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. She was born in Yamacraw, Kentucky February 7, 1930, the daughter of Luther B. Stephens and Charleen (Hembree) Stephens.
Mrs. Coffey was self employed for 30 years as the owner and operator of Betty Coffey’s Beauty Salon in Muncie. She also was a hairstylist for Barkman’s and Pine Terrace, before opening her own salon. She retired in 1992.
In retirement, Mrs. Coffey enjoyed traveling, reading, journaling, crocheting, and watching Judge Judy, Survivor, and Hallmark Christmas Movies. She was a founding member of the former Halteman Village Baptist Church and current member of North Delaware Baptist Church.
She also enjoyed going to musicals and theater performances, was always up for a road-trip to Nashville for the Grand Ole Opry and Christmas at the Ryman with Vince Gill and Amy Grant.
Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl Taylor (husband: Mike, deceased) and a grandson Chris Taylor, both of Muncie. A son Steve Coffey (wife: Cindy) and five grandsons Ryan Coffey (wife: Lauren), Adam Coffey (wife: Amber), Justin Coffey (wife: Jess), Jordan Coffey (wife: Jaime) and Alex Coffey, all from Texas; three great grandsons (Brock Coffey, Mason Coffey and Camden Coffey); two sisters Shirley Daunhauer and Linda Keith (husband: Clifford), all from Kentucky and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Mrs. Coffey was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Hoyt G. Coffey; a son James Allen Coffey, a sister Sue Carol Stephens, a sister Bonnie Sampson, and four brothers Alan Stephens, Val Stephens, Noel Stephens, and Carl Phillip Stephens.
Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home in Muncie. Family and friends may call two hours prior to the service at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
