Betty Lou Griffith

Betty Lou Griffith, 100, of Muncie, passed away at Morrison Woods on Wednesday, April 8, 2021. She was born on Sunday, August 29, 1920, in Middletown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Carlton and Olive (Petro) Swain. Betty was a 1938 graduate of Muncie Burris High School. She went on to marry the love of her life, Gail Griffith in 1940. Betty was a homemaker and loved caring for her family. She was kind-hearted and worried about everyone before herself. She was a part of both the crochet and homemakers club. Church was the central focus of her life, but she also enjoyed fishing, reading, dining out with her church friends and family, spending time at the beach, and winters in Florida. She was a member of the Northside Church of God. Betty’s family wants to give a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Morrison Woods and Southern Care Hospice. Betty is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Thomas) McElfresh, and Penny Griffith; a son, Joseph (Ruby) Griffith; grandchildren, Michael (Rebecca) McElfresh, Jane (Richard) Delph, Lisa Markley, Sara Griffith, Travis Griffith, and Joey Griffith; some of the great-grandchildren include Matthew McElfresh, Zachary McElfresh, Megan(Keegan) Bell, Jonathan(Cassie) McElfresh, and there are many others; additionally, a great-great grandson, Gracen Bell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gail Griffith; parents, Carlton and Olive Swain; and a sister, June Williamson. Private visitation will be Monday, April 12, 2021, from 1:30p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks are required as well as social distancing. Private graveside service will be held Monday, April 12, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
