Obituary of Carolyn Sue King
Carolyn Sue King, of Yorktown, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at St. Vincent Carmel, with her loved ones by her side. She was born on April 21, 1944, in Muncie, Indiana. She was one of five daughters of William (Bill) and Martha (Hunter) Sanders. Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, Bob L. King, Yorktown; daughter, Debra Garrett (Muncie); sisters, Doris Rahn (Weldon Springs, MO) and Joyce Chong (Mililani Town, HI); four grandchildren, Corbin Garrett (Muncie), Natalie Turner (Indianapolis), Hunter King (wife-Holly) and Lynsie King (Muncie); and one great-grandchild, Harrison King (Muncie). Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, William (Bill) and Martha (Hunter) Sanders; son, Robert G. King; granddaughter, Annie A. Garrett; sisters, Georgia (Sanders) Green and Donna Christine (Sanders) Humphreys. She was a retired schoolteacher with the Muncie Community Schools and taught the majority of her career as a 2nd grade teacher at North View Elementary School. Carolyn was a lifetime member of Avondale United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and vacation bible school classes. She enjoyed many things throughout her precious life; family vacations, holiday gatherings, square dancing, reading, and various music. Her beautiful yard filled with flowers also brought her joy. She enjoyed spending time with her family most of all. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2022, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 4600 W. Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304, with Pastor Ron Johnson officiating. Visitation with friends will be from 12:00-2:00pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or by phone (800) 822-6344.
