Carolyn J. Swain

She was born Saturday, June 1, 1935, in Muncie, the daughter of Marvin M. and Wanda (Tomey) Bookout.

Carolyn was an active member of Temple Baptist Church. She worked for the Lord, her church, and her family, which she loved very much. She was active in the former Seedline Ministry at church.

Survivors include her daughter, Toni (husband, Stoney) Speer; sister, Sue (Roger, deceased husband) Stout Long; brothers, Rolland D. (wife, Donna) Bookout and Darwin J. Bookout; seven grandchildren, Chris (wife, Tammy) Ramsey, Heather (husband, David) Stout, Amy (husband, David) Koles, Sara (husband, Tim) Gomez, Ashley Ramsey; Heather (husband, Scott) Carlson, and Buffy (husband, Kevin) Mallo; seventeen great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph “Sonny’ Swain; her second husband, Raymond Collins; infant son, Ronald Eugene Swain; daughter, Barbara Ball; brother, Marvin D. Bookout; sister-in-law, Bettie Bookout.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Temple Baptist Church, 3501 South Madison Street, Muncie, Indiana 47302 with Pastor Ben Lang officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.

Family and friends may call at Temple Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Thursday.

Elm Ridge Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
