Chrissy (sometimes called Crissy or Crissy Jo) was born in Muncie to Rick and Lou New, and attended Muncie Southside High School and Parkview Christian School. She was a licensed practical nurse by profession and was a memory care coordinator at Woodland Terrace in Carmel during COVID. More recently, she handled the administrative work at her husband’s company, SubZero-Refrigeration. Chrissy loved spending time with her family and friends, and also attended several churches, including River of Life and Pentecostals Of Westfield. She was a talented singer, enjoyed crafting and gardening, and took pride in creating particularly beautiful Christmas trees. Her family wants you to know she was a wonderful mom, a great cook, a kind woman, a sister who had everyone’s back … and that she would not hesitate to crack a joke at your expense if the spirit so moved her.
Survivors include her husband, Alan Shopher; five daughters, Ashley Slusher (SO: Ashton); Olivia Slusher; twins Layla and Madison Welborn, and Jeweliana Welborn; sisters Angela Mills (husband: Joel) and Missy Kramer (husband: Troy Minton); brother Andy New (wife: Ang); lifelong friends Marcella Murray and Wenzdee Beams (husband: Ryan), and many cherished cousins, aunts, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her firstborn, Ricki Leigh Slusher.
