Clarence Lee Barnes

He was born January 12, 1942, in Crossville, Tennessee, the son of Clarence Sr. and Geneva (Emery) Barnes. Clarence attended Woody Schools in Tennessee and moved to Muncie at the age of thirteen. He worked for Indiana Bridge for thirty years where he started as a welder and was an Inspector when he retired in 1994. Clarence loved spending time with his family, playing his banjo and guitar, fishing and spending time in Byrdstown, Tennessee sitting on the porch enjoying the view. He was a member of the Avondale Sympathy Club and a Charter member of Bethel United Baptist Church. Mr. Barnes served his country in the U.S. Marines.

Survivors include three daughters, Anita "Sue" (husband Ronnie) Piercy, Bonnie (companion Frankie Welch) Cope and Elsa "Dolly" Collins; grandchildren, Jennifer (husband JD) Roberson, Judith (husband James) Phillips, Misty (husband Josh) Monroe, Michelle (husband Darrell) Brower, Tabitha (husband Joshua) White, Ashley (husband Miles) Keating and Chelsie Collins; great-grandchildren, Courtney Piercy, Kalan Piercy, Zoe Brower, Noah Phillips, Brianna Phillips, Jaden Brower, Kayla Roberson, Jadrian Roberson, Ashlynn Monroe, Hayden Keating, Joshua Monroe Jr., and Joshlynn White; sisters, Betty (husband Gerald) Campbell, Margaret (companion Jack Grissom) Green and Janice (husband Roger) McClelland; brothers, Dennis (wife Violet) Barnes and Fredrick (wife Shelia) Barnes; sister-in-law, Nina West, several nieces; nephews; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Sr. and Geneva Barnes; his wife, Judy Barnes; a daughter, Donna Barnes; a granddaughter, Debra Cope; a great-granddaughter, Kiera Monroe; two brothers, Douglas Barnes and Eugene Barnes; and two sisters, Kathleen Hall and Della O'Quinn.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47302 with Pastor Bruce Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park with Military Rites conducted by Delaware County Honor Guard.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
