

He was born July 8, 1925, in Columbia, Missouri, the son of Esbert and Erma (Hill) Pickering. Clyde was a renowned gardener, an avid photographer and a boating enthusiast. During his career he worked for an experimental farm for Ralston Purina, worked for Marsh Supermarkets, Armstrong Auto Electric, General GMC Truck Service, Overland Tours and Pickering Service, which he established in 1970 and was actively working each day at age ninety-one. He attended Victory Temple and served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy Reserves.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda (Halbert) Pickering; sons, Jim (wife Pat) Pickering, Ernie Pickering, Rick (wife Pam) Pickering, David (wife Alexis) Armstrong, Marc (wife Mary Ellen) Armstrong and Matthew Armstrong; daughters, Heather (husband Matt) Thompson, Jo Anne Sullivan, Jill (husband Bill) Young and Julie (husband Tim) Peters; sixteen grandchildren, including a special grand-daughter, Victoria; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Esbert and Erma Pickering and three brothers, George Pickering, Robert Pickering and Jimmy Pickering.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 8, 2017 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Pastor Rick Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park with Military Rites conducted by Delaware County Honor Guard.
