Edwin M. Hendel age 96, of Wayne Township died Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Hamilton on October 1, 1918, the son of Hugo and Freida (Petie) Hendel. As a teen, he enlisted in the 3 "C's" program where he traveled and developed a strong work ethic. He married Edna Saylor on May 26, 1945 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamilton and she preceded him in death on March 7, 2013. He was employed for 35 years as a machine repairman at General Motors, Fisher Body Division, Fairfield and also was a devoted farmer for 60 years. He attended Princeton Pike Church of God with his family. He is survived by his children, Ron (Debby) Hendel, Hamilton, Paul (June) Hendel, Hamilton, Mike (Ingrid) Hendel, Middleton and Kathi (Jon) Truster, Middletown; thirteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. His later years were blessed by many loving caregivers. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Arthur Hendel and two sisters, Irma Werk and Martha Dailey.
