Donald "Don" Chesnut, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away in his sleep on Monday, August 21, 2023 at the age of 87.
Don was born the oldest of three children to Cord and Paul Chesnut in Davis County, Indiana on October 15, 1935. He graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1953. He married Martha, the love of his life, in 1955. Don spent most of his working career at Motorcraft, Inc. in Muncie. He and Martha became owners of Motorcraft in 1978 and ran it until 1992 when they retired to Venice, Florida. Don had a gift for building and fixing electric motors and was always ready to help others even after hours or weekends.
Don loved boating, skiing, basketball (especially Indiana University), baseball and ballroom dancing. He shared his love of boating with friends and family and taught many to waterski. Much of his retirement was spent with Martha boating the intercoastal waterways around Venice, ballroom dancing and volunteering at the Elks Club.
Don is survived by his wife, Martha; his sisters, Betty Meslin (husband, Jay) and Mary Pierce; his daughters, Connie “Suzy” Maul (husband, John), Linda Chesnut and Nancy Chesnut (partner, Kevin Robinson); his grandchildren, Sally Williams (husband, Shane) and John D. Maul (wife, Roxanne); and his great-grandchildren, Blaine Williams, Dylan Maul and Olivia Maul.
His father, Paul Chesnut; mother, Corda Chesnut; and brother-in-law, Jim Pierce, preceded Don in death.
