

She was born in Muncie, Indiana on November 20, 1933, the daughter of the late William A. Heldenbrand and Edna U. (Rahe) Heldenbrand. Dorothy was a graduate of St. Lawrence Elementary School in 1947, McKinley Junior High School in 1948, and Muncie Central High School in 1951. She graduated from Indiana Business College in 1953 and was hired by Indiana Employment Security Division following her graduation. She worked as a secretary claims taker and placement interviewer during her fourteen and a half years of service, during the course of intermittent employment. There she met her future husband, Larry L. Tricker.
After her marriage to Larry on May 14, 1966, she stayed home to care for their son, Lawrence, and twins, Thomas and Theresa. She later returned to work at Muncie Psychiatric Clinic for sixteen years where she started part-time and later became the office manager. Upon the dissolving of the clinic, she went to work for Ball State University as administrative secretary where she worked twelve years before retiring in 2002.
Dorothy was very active in her church at St. Lawrence for many years performing various duties. Among her organizations were the Legion of Mary, Altar Rosary Society, church cleaning, and the Archives Committee.
Survivors include her loving husband of fifty-five years, Larry Tricker; sons, Lawrence (Marie Caraza) Tricker and Thomas (Jozette) Tricker; daughter, Theresa (Tony) Stout; grandchildren, Zachary Keesling, Devin Tricker, Leslie (Jeffrey) Brinson, Zachary Ruthven, Spencer (Madison) Tricker, James Tricker, Seth Feeney, Madison (Tremane) Sweeney, Jonathon Stout, Joshua Stout, and Cheyenne Tricker; great-grandchildren, Halle Brinson, Miya Wyatt, Montgomery Tricker, and Aubrey Brinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William A. Heldenbrand and Edna U. (Rahe) Heldenbrand; a son, William A. Tricker, born May 21, 1968, who lived only an hour; a sister, Patricia Bauer; and two infant siblings, Phyllis (nine months) in 1931, and William Joseph (three months) in 1935.
Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. The Rosary will be said 7 p.m. to 8 p.m..
Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy will be celebrated Thursday, October 7, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Father Eric Underwood will officiate. Due to COVID-19, attendees must wear a face mask and social distance.
