

Eudora Emich White Lewis, affectionally called “Doie” by her family and friends died September 12, 2025. She was born October 20, 1923, to Arthur and Dora White in Johnson County, Indiana, near Nineveh. The school she attended in Nineveh was used in the movie, “Hoosiers”. After graduation from Franklin High School, she went to Ball State Teachers College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1945 and a Master’s degree in Education in 1954.
While teaching in Rushville, Indiana, she married J. Waldon Lewis, who was finishing his education at Ball State after having served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Both moved to Muncie and taught in the Muncie Community Schools for the remainder of their professional careers.
The Lewises were married sixty years before Waldon’s death in August of 2012. Doie enjoyed the outdoors, golf, ballroom dancing, and travel.
Eudora (Doie) leaves many friends at Westminster Village, Muncie. She also leaves a niece, Susan (Pete) Reporto of Des Plaines, IL, and three nephews: Roger Parkhurst of Alexandria, VA, Bruce (Marcia) Parkhurst of Toledo, OH and Lewis (Sue) Graham of W. Lafayette, IN.
Two sisters are deceased- Mary Graham and Annie Laurie Parkhurst. Two brothers-in-law are also deceased- Thomas Graham and Nelson Parkhurst.
Elm Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of burial arrangements. There will be no visitation or service. Entombment will be in the Elm Ridge Mausoleum.
