Brenda Kay Bays, 63, of Sun City Center, Florida, formerly of Muncie, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at LifePath Hospice House in Ruskin, Florida. She was born on September 14, 1962, in Muncie, Indiana, to Walter and Shirley (Dungan) Caldwell.
Brenda graduated from Delta High School in 1980. She worked many years as a Collector at many banks and collection agencies. After being diagnosed with terminal Neuroendocrine cancer in 2014, she retired. Brenda deeply loved her family, friends, and numerous animals that she and Greg had over the years. She loved to sit on the beach and listen to the waves. Brenda was a Hoosier at heart, loving her games of cornhole and euchre. She was a beautiful and loving wife, mother, and friend.
Harold Gregory “Greg” Bays, 64, of Sun City Center, Florida, formerly of Muncie, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, in Muncie, Indiana. He was born on August 25, 1961, in Muncie, Indiana, to Harold and Patricia (Reno) Bays.
Greg attended and graduated from Northside High School in 1979 and went on to Ball State University, where he played basketball for a short period of time. He joined the United States Air Force in 1982 as a firefighter, where he served in multiple locations, including the Middle East during Gulf War (Desert Storm), and was honorably discharged in September 1992. After the military, he began a long-term career at Red Gold. He started as a truck driver and was soon promoted to IT Specialist. Greg retired after 17 years of service. He was especially close with his Red Gold coworkers, whom he affectionately called his “framily.” He loved his country and thoroughly enjoyed playing cornhole and golf and cherished time spent with friends and family.
Greg and Brenda married in September of 1981 and spent 44 beautiful years together. They were residents of Muncie for the majority of their lives. Greg and Brenda worked hard and played hard until they both retired to Florida, where they thoroughly enjoyed the state for as long as they were able. They loved watching sunsets from their favorite spot in the neighborhood and taking late-night golf cart rides anywhere. The beach and the weather were the main reasons they moved to Florida, and the beach was one of their favorite places to be.
There wasn’t anything Greg and Brenda didn’t do together. They loved—and were loved by—their community, friends (“framily”), and, most of all, their family.
Greg and Brenda are survived by their son, Daryl (Leslie) Bays; daughter, Tiffany Bays; grandchildren, Sheridan Bays, Ellianah Bays, Dalilah Bays, and Za’Tavion Smith; adopted grandson, Malachi Bays; great-grandchild, Aria Bays; Brenda’s brothers, Lynn Caldwell and Troy (Shelly) Caldwell; Brenda’s sister, Rhonda Sides; Greg’s sister, Stephanie (Steve) Woods; and Greg’s father, Harold Bays.
They were preceded in passing by Brenda’s parents, Walter and Shirley Caldwell; Brenda’s brother, Mickey Caldwell; and Greg’s mother, Patricia Bays.
A committal service with military rites for Greg will take place on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 1:30 pm at the Elm Ridge Memorial Park Mausoleum – North Chapel. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, from 11 am until 1 pm, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. A private burial will take place in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
