He was born on Monday, November 28, 1927, in Muncie, Indiana, the son of the late Lola (Parkhurst) Syphers. Harold married the love of his life, Marjorie (Mae) White, on April 1, 1953, and they shared forty seven years together.
Harold loved to work and spent most of his time running his grocery store, White’s Grocery. He also ran the Stop N Shop in Eaton for several years, and loved that town and the people always. After retiring, at 70 years old, he went to work for Walmart where he spent the next twenty years. In Harold’s free time, he enjoyed watching Bears and Colts football, Pacers basketball, and he was a huge fan of the Muncie Bearcats. He was also a member of Glad Tidings Church.
Harold is survived by his son, Harold (Gene) White Jr.; a daughter, Tonia (husband, Mike) Matthews; two step-daughters, Connie Holding and Beverly (husband, Alva) Warren; twenty-eight grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, with two more on the way; and a special friend, Wanda Knuckles.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie White; mother, Lola Syphers; and a brother, James Syphers.
Friends and family may call Tuesday, April 20, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Glad Tidings Church, 3001 South Burlington Drive, Muncie, Indiana 47302.
Services will be held Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Glad Tidings Church. Pastor Kevin Holt will officiate. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks are required as well as social distancing.
