Helen Fae Long, 83, of Gaston, Indiana, passed away on August 27, 2026, at home with her family by her side. Born April 12, 1943, Helen was the daughter of Ernest Winningham and Wilma Gunter Winningham.
In 1961, Helen married the love of her life, Bill Ray Long, and together they shared 61 years of marriage. Bill preceded her in death, as did her parents, her daughter Becky Long, and her sisters Norma Kaiser and Hazel Grayson.
Helen is survived by her brother James (Cindy) Winningham; her son Greg (Kim) Long; her daughter Lori Armantrout; her grandchildren Emily (Matt) Dubiak, Andrew, Jordan, and Shelbi; and her great-grandchildren Blakeley & Taytum Kubiak and Kinsley & Jase Duncan.
Helen worked alongside her husband at Longs Excavating, giving her time and steady support with the same devotion she brought to her home and family. To those who knew her best, she was a beloved mother and, in every sense, “the best grandma,” offering a constant presence marked by care, loyalty, grace, and love.
A faithful member of the Church of Nazarene, Helen attended church every Sunday, living her beliefs with quiet consistency and reverence. Her life reflected a deep and enduring faith, and she will be remembered with gratitude and respect by all who were blessed to know her.
Helen’s family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice, especially Katrina and Jasmine, for taking such wonderful care of her.
