

She was born February 2, 1935, in Muncie, the daughter of Elmer and Dorthea (Russell) Carter. Janyce was a 1952 graduate of Muncie Central High School. On September 21, 1956, she married John F. Drumm and they were married sixty-one years. They had three children, Julie Drumm, Jeffersonville, Indiana, Mark (wife Julie A.) Drumm, Cowan, Indiana, and Matthew (wife Soukkhy) Drumm, Ashburn, Virginia. She then worked as a teacher's aide for several years with special needs children at Morrison Elementary School and she worked as a telephone operator for Ball Memorial Hospital until retirement. After retiring to Hardinsburg, Indiana, she was active with the Senior Citizens Center. Janyce attended Hardinsburg Christian Church for many years and enjoyed helping with the Vacation Bible School program. She also volunteered with the Women's Ministry in Paoli, Indiana and was always willing to lend a hand where needed.
Left to remember her sweetness and generous heart, along with her husband and her children are her cherished grandchildren, Bernard J. (wife Erica) Dumond of Durham, North Carolina, Michelle (husband Jeremiah) Rogers of Middletown, Indiana, Amber Drumm and Chanse Lambdin, both of Ashburn, Virginia, Dustin Law of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Tyler Drumm of Haysville, Indiana, Tia (husband Allen) Bridgman, 29 Palms, California; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jeremiah, Levi, Hunter, Danica, Azayla, Braylin and Clara; brothers, Merrit Weaver and John Brees; sisters, Carolyn Walker and Eunice Jewett; sisters-in-law, Betty Wall and Nancy Funkhouser and many nieces; nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Carter; mother, Dorthea Weaver; step-father, Howard Weaver; her beloved grandmother, Belle Carter; brother, James White Carter; sister, Gladys Jean (White-Powers) Tatlock; niece, Brenda Powers-Moore; nephew, Jerry Powers and many of her aunts and uncles.
Services will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2017, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Private family burial in Elm Ridge Memorial Park will be held later.
Family and friends may call at Elm Ridge Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday.
