Jean Marie Jones

Jean was born on March 9, 1941 and was the daughter of Willard and Bessie (Parmer) Burtner. She was married to Gerald “Gene” Jones in 1958 and they were married for 65 years before his passing in 2024. They raised their 3 children in Muncie, Indiana and spent the majority of their lives there. Jean retired after a long career at Pengad-Indy and spent her later years traveling with her husband in their camper and attending car shows. She loved going to garage sales, gardening, playing cards, and spending time with her family. Jean was active in her church, the East Jackson St. Church of God.

Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ellen (husband, Joseph) Plowdrey, son Charles (wife, Tamra) Jones, two daughters-in-law, Martha Jones and Kim Jones, nine grandchildren; Marcie (husband, Joseph) Snider, Jillian (husband, Mark) Schuring, Laura (husband, Thomas) Atkins, Nickelle (husband, Craig) Nelson, Steven Jones, Andrew Plowdrey, Joseph A. Plowdrey, Christopher (wife, Lyndsey) Jones, and Monica (husband, Andrew) Harvey; nine great-grandchildren, and her faithful canine companion, Maggie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Bessie Burtner, her husband of 65 years, Gerald “Gene” Jones, her sister, Judith Jones, her brother, Bob Burtner, her son, Kelly Jones, and step-son, Charles “Bill” Jones.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Pastor Judy Hobbick officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Tuesday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
