Obituary of Jerry Dean West
Jerry Dean West, 59 Muncie passed away Saturday, February 18th in Onieda, Tennessee after an accident. Jerry was born in Muncie, Indiana on July 25, 1957 to Gilbert and Beulah Mae (Angel) West. He was the youngest of 6 children. Jerry lived in Selma and attended Selma schools, he graduated from Wapahani High School. After school he joined the Army and was honorably discharged. Jerry met his "woman" Teresa in 1984 and married her in 1985. The love they shared is not experienced by many. They worked hard, loved hard and grew their relationship into an unbreakable bond. He loved his family unconditionally. Jerry was an avid outdoors man. He loved riding his side-by-side, ATV, rail buggy anything with 4 wheels that would go up a mountain in the mud. He really loved being in Tennessee. He would sneak away every chance he got to Oneida, Tennessee and spend the weekend with his buddies Wayne and Kevin Hicks. If he couldn't get to Tennessee, he would head to Laurel. Jerry worked hard and played just as hard. Over the past 15 years Jerry was employed by Omni Source and prior to that Dobrow Industries. Jerry leaves behind his beloved wife of 32 years Teresa, son Jason, four grandsons Jordan and Dawson (mother Natalie); Jason and Landon (mother Megan); a sister Ella Neal (husband Ronnie); many nieces and nephews and his best little four legged buddy Roscoe P. Coletrain. Jerry also leaves behind extended family Jerry and Sheila Toomey; David and Cheryl Toomey; and Melissa and Troy Whitaker. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother Beulah, father Gilbert, brothers Charlie, Phil, Ronnie, and Ray and his mother-in-law Ferrell Mae Toomey, father-in-law Jerry Toomey, and daughter-in-law Natalie Smith. Services to celebrate the life of Jerry will be Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave. at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of the service. The family will gather at the Selma American Legion following the services for anyone wanting to join them.
