

A graduate of Burris High School, Joyce was a longtime member of Northside Assembly of God and later attended Gethsemane United Methodist Church. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she spent many years teaching Vacation Bible School and Sunday School. She also enjoyed participating in church circle groups, where she built lasting friendships through fellowship and service.
Joyce worked for many years in the cafeterias at Anthony Elementary School and Northside High School, where she enjoyed serving students and being part of the school community.
She had many interests and hobbies that brought her joy. She loved watching sports, especially Indiana teams, playing euchre with family and friends, and spending time with her card club. She was also known for her cooking and baking, particularly her pumpkin bread, which was a favorite among family and friends.
Family was always at the center of Joyce’s life. She looked forward to spending time with loved ones, especially at the annual Leonard family reunion, where stories, laughter, and family traditions were shared across generations.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 69 years, Donald Gray; her son, Chip (Kathy) Gray of Indianapolis; her daughter, Jennifer (Cecil) Hole of Crowley, Texas; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; two brothers; and one granddaughter.
Burial arrangements have been entrusted to Elm Ridge Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
