Judith A. Shaffer-Fisher

Judith was born on October 19, 1942, to parents Hazel and J. Donald Ross. They moved from Muncie to the family farm in Daleville, where she attended school.

Judith married Troy J. Shaffer in 1958, and resided in Alexandria, later moving to Fairmount, and then Summitville, where they continued to farm. They had three children, Ronald Troy, Suzanne Jo, and Sherry Ann. Judith was active in the Marion Civic Theater for many years, and was the star of her own show, Kiddy Carnival, on the Marion cable local access channel. Children, including her own, enjoyed playing games and watching cartoons during her live show.

She attended Ball State University, where she majored in journalism and continued her love of acting in the BSU theater. She loved being on stage and taking on leading roles.

Her love and want of traveling took her family across the U.S., visiting many states and national parks. The travel bug was set in her children!

Judith met her second husband while traveling with her company, Germaine Monteil Cosmetics located in New York City, where she worked at their main office.

Carlyn Ross Fisher and Judith A. Shaffer were married on February 22, 1990. They resided in beautiful Cardiff by the Sea in California. Judith continued her education in Interior Design and began her own design business, Serendipity.

After Ross’ later in life retirement from his company, Continental Controls Corporation of San Diego. They returned back to their home state, Indiana, to reside in Muncie.

Judith enjoyed baking with all of her grandchildren! She was a remarkable woman!

Judith is survived by her son, Ronald Shaffer; daughters, Suzanne (Dennie) Yeakle and Sherry (Scott) McCune; her step-sons, Richard (Leigh) Fisher and David (Valerie) Fisher; grandchildren, Stephanie (Joshua) Weaver, Alivia Yeakle, Dustin (Emily) Payne and Tara Kenworthy; step-grandchildren, Alison Fretwell, Jacqueline (Jose) Lopez, Andy (Rachel) Fisher, Aaron (Maritza) Fisher and Jessica (Amy) Fisher; and several great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304. A funeral service to honor her life will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Tomlinson Cemetery.
