Julia Cougill

She was born in Muncie, Indiana on July 6, 1938, to Cecil and Catheryn (Studebaker) Thomas. Julia attended Muncie Central High School.

Julia worked at the Riverside United Methodist Church for several years.

Julia loved her family and loved to go to rummage sales and give things to others. She was a strong woman with a great sense of humor. She always told us, pretty is as pretty does. We weren’t allowed to say we hated. She told us we might not like what others do but we did not use the word hate. We weren’t allowed to use God’s name in vain. She loved plants and her cats.

She is survived by her brothers, Jerry (Sharen) and Cecil R. (Debbie) Thomas; her children, Catheryn Pizzola, Melanie White, Scott (Becky) Fitzgerald, Wiley Fitzgerald, and Barb Fitzgerald; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Catheryn (Studebaker) Thomas; husband, Larry Cougill; her sister, Alberta Schmidt; and two of her children, William Fitzgerald and Julie Thornburgh; and a grandson, William Pizzola.

Friends and family may call Thursday, December 16, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304.

Services will be held Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Her brother, Jerry Thomas will officiate.
