

Larry G. Black, 79, of Muncie passed away on February 22, 2026 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born November 1, 1946, in Owingsville, Ky. He moved to Muncie as a child and graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1964. He served honorably in the US Army from 1965 to 1967. He retired from Duffy Tool after 38 years. He was a member of Maplewood Golf Club for over 40 years. He loved woodworking and listening to music in his workshop. He enjoyed working with, tinkering and fixing antique clocks. He was also known as Mr. Fix-it to family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jill (McCurdy) Black whom he married April 19, 1968, his daughter Lori (Troy) Ingram and his bonus daughter, Angie (David) Hershberger. He was the best Papaw/Gramps to grandchildren Alysa Grady (Dawson Reprogle) and Logan Grady.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Alice Black, his brother George Black Jr, sister-in-law Marcia Black, sister Phyllis Dodd, father-in-law Ralph D. McCurdy, mother-in-law Bettie McCurdy and brother-in-law James L. McCurdy.
Larry's wishes were to be cremated with no services. Elm Ridge Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation arrangements.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Maplewood Golf Club at a later date.
