Lester was born in Martinsville, Indiana on Saturday, October 3, 1931, the son of Ulys Broadstreet and Nada (Pettit) Broadstreet. He joined the Air Force and served during the Korean War. Lester received the Korean Ribbon and a Bronze Star for his service. Lester was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Lester was also a member of the UAW Local #283, and worked as a Quality Control Inspector at Borg-Warner for over twenty-four years until his retirement in 1993. He loved coin collecting, woodworking, gardening and house plants, fishing, cars, and always loved his dogs, Spike and Zipper.
Survivors include one brother, Melvin Broadstreet of Greenwood; thirteen nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; parents, Ulys and Nada Mae Broadstreet; brother, Bud Broadstreet; sisters, Maxine Collins and Judy Wampler, brother-in-law, Robert Wampler; sisters-in-law, Joan Broadstreet, Sally Broadstreet, Patty Connor, and Beverly Benbow; niece, Kathy Olson; nephew, Danny Collins; and great-nephews, Justin Donati and Jeff Wampler.
Services will be held at 3:30 pm on Friday, January 24, 2020, in the Elm Ridge Memorial Park Mausoleum North Chapel at 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304.
