Lillian Bernice McConnaughey

Lillian was born in Macclenny, Florida on January 22, 1938, the daughter of Artis and Pencie Rhoden. She found her true love in Arthur McConnaughey, with whom she shared a lifetime of joy. Lillian pursued her education at Ball State University, where she earned a degree in dietetics. Her career spanned over two decades at Liberty Village, where she demonstrated not only her professional expertise but also her compassionate and caring nature. Later, she continued her journey at Hillcroft, where she found fulfillment in connecting with the residents and making a positive impact on their lives.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Lillian was known for her warm heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering support for her family and friends.

Lillian is survived by her children, William “Bill” McConnaughey, Marta McConnaughey, Debbie (Dale) Himes, Rodger (Rita) McConnaughey, Brenda (Ronnie) Burress, and Karla McConnaughey; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur McConnaughey; her parents; her son, Robert “Bobby” McConnaughey; and a great-grandson, Zachary Hirons.

Family and friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Burial will follow at Tomlinson Cemetery, 5301 S Old State Rd 67, Muncie, IN 47302.
