

Linda Abrell, 89, passed away July 8, 2026. She was born November 9, 1936, in Muncie, Indiana, to Lester and Elizabeth Holloway. Linda attended Muncie schools and graduated from Muncie Central in 1954. She also completed an associate’s degree at Ball State University.
Linda married her high school sweetheart, Max Abrell, in 1956. They created Max L. Abrell Construction Co. and built K-Marts across the country. They also started and ran the Twin Pine horse stables and later owned and managed multiple Ponderosa Steakhouses.
In her younger years, Linda was an avid bowler and golfer; later, she swam at the Ball State University pool well into her eighties.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she enjoyed doing puzzles, working crosswords, traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Zarley (Jack) Palmdale, CA, sons, Mark Abrell (Susan Eldridge) Muncie, Daniel Abrell (Karin) Valparaiso and Thomas Abrell (Amy) Muncie. She is also survived by her sisters, Gloria Mantock & Beth Hayes (Bill York) and sisters-in-law, Barbara Holloway and Barbara Jo Boyd. She has 13 grandchildren: Justin & Joel Zarley, Audrey Cook, Adam & Michael Abrell, Hannah & Zachary Abrell, Matt & David Abrell, Dustin, Dillon, Collin & Lauren Eldridge. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband Max, her parents, brothers, Charles and Larry Holloway, sister-in-law Viola Walls and brothers-in-law, Marvin, Jim & Phillip Abrell, Philip Hayes, Bob Mantock, and Phillip Boyd.
Family and friends may gather from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Monday, July 13, 2026, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, 47304. A funeral service to honor her life will begin at 1:00 PM.
