Linda Ann Darrall

Linda Ann Bishop-Darrall, 64, of Yorktown, Indiana, passed away at 1:13 AM on Sunday, August 25, 2024, accompanied by her husband Mark, after a brief and valiant struggle with pancreatic cancer and opportunistic infections.

Linda was born November 20, 1959, in Auburn, Indiana to Thurman and Merle Bishop and is a 1979 graduate of DeKalb County High School. She graduated with an ASN degree with honors from the Lutheran College of Health Professions (now St. Francis University) in 1991. She was a Registered Nurse in Indiana, working for 30 years in the neonatal intensive care unit of Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana.

While at Ball Memorial Hospital, Linda was considered an exemplary nurse and served in leadership roles including charge nurse and a member of process improvement teams.

Linda loved to travel, both with Mark and with friends, and has experienced the Florida Keys, South Carolina, Hawaii, England, Mexico, the Caribbean, and transiting the Panama Canal (three times!). But Linda's Happiest Places were Walt Disney World in Orlando and sailing with Disney Cruise Lines, where she could enjoy two weeks or even just a couple of days where her stress and pressures could be left behind. Unfortunately, Linda was not able to experience Disneyland, which she and Mark had planned to visit in September of 2024.

Linda's Disney cruises and park visits led to the creation of many friendships that grew far beyond Disney to become close, caring, and loving relationships, completely in line with her ruthlessly selfless nature.

But Linda's greatest joy was her grandson Samson ("Sam"), a surprise blessing from son Kevin and his wife Lizzy Robinson of Cromwell, Indiana. She helped Kevin and Lizzy by taking care of him for many weekends while they worked; she considered it an honor to be able to spend so much time with him and watch him grow and learn.

Linda is survived by her brother, Michael Bishop of Greenwood, Indiana; husband, Mark; and son, Kevin of Cromwell, Indiana.

Public visitation for Linda will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home; 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM with a celebration of life services starting at 1:30 PM.

Linda is a benefactor of the Culver Academies in Culver, Indiana, and asks that in lieu of flowers or monetary gifts, donations be directed to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Indiana; Lutheran Church Charities Comfort Dog Ministry; Dogs, Inc. of Palmetto FL; or the animal rescue organization of choice.
