Linda Lou (Huxhold) Hendee

Linda Lou Hendee, 87, of Muncie, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, at IU Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She was born in Muncie, Indiana on January 22, 1938, to Homer and Nancy (Mansfield) Huxhold. On August 25, 1956, Linda married the love of her life, James E. “Pete” Hendee, and he preceded her in passing on May 30, 2020.

Linda graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1956, where she was a member of the high school’s concert choir. She went on to work for Gommel’s Meat Market for many years. Linda then worked at Walmart for 13 years, before officially retiring. For 10 years, Linda was a member of the White River Ramblers, where she walked 5k’s throughout all 50 states. She loved gardening, and her favorite flower was a yellow rose. But above all, Linda loved her family more than anything in the world.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Sheri (John) Ward; son, Kevin Hendee; 3 grandsons, Ryan Law, Jonathon Ward, and Daniel (Crystal) Ward; 5 great-grandsons; brother, Bruce Huxhold; sisters, Delores Morris and Diane Randolph; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in passing by her loving husband of 63 years, Pete; sisters, Freda Thompson-Seaman, Wilma Grove, Elma Bailey; and brothers, Max, Russell, Jack, and Perry Huxhold.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie, IN 47304, with Pastor Jeff Haill officiating.
