Mary Elizabeth Winslow

Mary Elizabeth (Lord) Winslow, 84, Muncie, passed into the presence of God on Monday, October 30, 2023 after a long battle with vascular dementia. Mary was the middle of three children of Harold and Martha (Shelley) Lord and was born Tuesday, October 24, 1939 in New Castle, Indiana. She attended Holland Elementary School and graduated from New Castle High School in 1957. As a child, Mary was a tomboy. She loved playing on all playground equipment and could be seen doing cartwheels, flips, backbends, and walking on her hands. She was active in GAA in high school. She loved animals, especially her Beagle dogs. After high school graduation, she worked as a secretary at Brooks Foods, Grace Baptist Church, for Dr. Allen Lennig, Optometrist, R.J Whitinger Accountants, and the Muncie Public Library where she retired. Mary, a two-time breast cancer survivor, was a spokesperson for The American Cancer Society. She met her husband Hugh “Bud” Winslow while working at Borg Warner. They were married sixty-one years. Mary and Hugh "Bud" enjoyed spending many winters in their Naples, Florida home. In later years, she served as secretary for The Gracemen, a Southern Gospel Quartet in which her husband sang, and was an active member of Grace Baptist Church in Muncie. Survivors include her husband, Hugh "Bud" Winslow; sons, Michael (Melissa) Winslow of Greenwood, Indiana and Steve (Jen) Winslow of Glendale, California; grandchildren, Carter Winslow, Kate Winslow, and Logan Winslow; brother, Ron Lord of Queen Creek, Arizona; sister, Grace (Dr. Carroll) Galvin of Waseca, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Martha Lord; a brother and a sister who died in infancy. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Grace Baptist Church, 6401 West River Road, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Pastor Rory Bond officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Baptist Church.
