Mary E. Swearingen

She was born on Sunday, October 19, 1958, in Oneida, Tennessee, the daughter of Marvin and Hazel Sexton.

Mary was a long-time resident of Muncie, Indiana, where she had lived since 1996. She graduated from Wapahani High School in 1978. Mary worked for the Muncie School System for twenty-one years and Hi-way 3 Hardware Store for eleven years. She inspired people without even knowing it, by her work ethic and positive attitude. Mary loved gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her brother, Dewayne Sexton, West Bend, Wisconsin; two sons, Jeremy (wife Sona Lee) Swearingen, Muncie, Indiana, and Jason (wife Kelly) Swearingen, Noblesville, Indiana; one daughter, Jamie Swearingen (fiancé Tyler Hall), Muncie, Indiana; two granddaughters, Alexis Swearingen, Tennessee, and Savannah Hall, Muncie, Indiana; two grandsons, Gavin Hall, Muncie, Indiana, and Garrett Swearingen, Noblesville, Indiana; three nephews, E.J. Sexton, Gary Best, and Daniel Beverly; one niece, Faye Best; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Buddy, Tiny, and Joe Sexton; one sister, Lee Etta Sexton; and grandparents, Olen and Nannie Sexton.

Services to celebrate Mary's life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304, with Reverend Carl Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
