Verlon Ray Hurst passed away July 17, 2016 at the age of 72. He was born in McKee, KY on December 25, 1943, the son of Thomas William Hurst and Dovie "Flannery" Hurst. He is survived by his former wife Jean Hurst and his eight children, Tammy(Rick Cain) Hurst, Tom (Angie) Hurst, Connie (Rich Brown) Hurst, Linda (Jim Adams) Martin, Sherry (David) Blevins, Derek (Mandy) Baker, Marcus (Sindy) Hurst and Lisa (Robby) Wood. He is also survived by his 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Ray was preceded is death by his parents, former wife Jeri and great-grandson Verlon Ray Martin at birth. Ray loved being an Iron Worker and was a member of the Iron Workers Union's #44 and #84 since 1974. He was also an avid golfer, pool player and coin collector. He always loved painting beautiful works of art, UK basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. The family would like to thank the Hospice of Hamilton and Dr.'s Samoan and Paula Weisenberger for their care. Visitation will be 5pm to 8pm Wednesday July 19, 2016 at the Ivey Funeral Home 2565 Princeton Rd., Hamilton 45011.
