Michael Ray Ertle, 73, of Winchester, died Thursday, November 12, 2020, at St. Vincent Randolph Hospital. He was born in Winchester, Indiana, on Tuesday, July 15, 1947, to Orville Ray Ertle and Mildred (McIntyre) Ertle. He graduated from Lee Driver High School in 1966. He later received a degree in engineering.
Michael worked for Maul Brothers Glass Company in Winchester for a number of years. He moved to Lakeland, Florida and worked there for twenty five years. He finished out his career at Union City Body Company. Michael was also a Freemason.
Michael loved 50s music and rock-n-roll, especially the Rolling Stones. He enjoyed restoring old cars with the car club of Randolph County Timing Association. Michael also loved eating out at Frisch's Big Boy, Culvers Ice Cream, and the Pizza House. He also liked going to Maid-Rite Sandwich Shoppe with the “gum wall”. It is a tradition to stick your gum on the wall there.
Michael is survived by: a great-nephew, Chance Wilson; a cousin, Lloyd Ertle (wife, Rose); and more friends than he ever realized.
Michael is preceded in death by: his parents, Orville and Mildred Ertle; a sister, Karla Wilson; and his only nephew, Tony Wilson.
There will be no services. Cremation will take place. Elm Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
