Phil served the Muncie-Delaware County Community for over 50 years; both as a Health Inspector for the Delaware County Department of Health and as a Probation Officer for the Delaware County Circuit Courts. Phil was especially invested in the Delaware County Drug Court Program.
Phil was an avid sports fan from his alma mater, Ball State University, especially basketball, volleyball and WNBA. He was an accomplished motorcyclist, having raced motocross in the late 1960s and 1970s. He also loved fishing with his grandchildren. He enjoyed jazz music and was especially fond of Celine Dion’s musical talent.
Phil proudly served as a mentor to many within a 12-step program – he had a great love guiding others toward healthy, sober and productive lifestyle. He loved the Lord and attended church regularly at Harvest Christian Fellowship Church in Muncie.
Phil is survived by his three loving children: Victoria Rabenstein (Ron), Dean Johnson (Caroline), and Trent Addison; seven grandchildren: Zachary Rabenstein (Jordan), Meredith Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Jack Johnson, Madeleine Johnson, Noah Addison, and Natalee Addison; and one great-grandchild, Isabelle Rabenstein. He will be remembered fondly by his daughter-in-love, Mary.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his half-sister, Kelli Massey; wife, the love of his life Evelyn Johnson and his grandson, Henry Nicholas Johnson.
