She was born on March 27, 1987 in Muncie, IN to Robert A. Wyman, Jr. and Laura D. (Tweedy) Wyman. She attended Claypool Elementary School until 6th grade, where she moved to and graduated from Delta High School in 2005. As a child, Porsche was quiet and shy, but her infectious smile could light up any room. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals and had many different pets, including a horse named Matty, a rat, many dogs, rabbits, parakeets, cats and hamsters.
After high school, Porsche started coming out of her shell. She had a newfound love for exercise and going out with friends and family. Porsche also loved playing in a recreational coed softball and bowling league.
Porsche went on to get her Bachelors degree in early childhood education. Eventually, she moved down to southern Indiana, where she met and married her then husband.
Porsche worked as an early childhood teacher in Jeffersonville, IN, sometimes teaching two grades in the same class. Although she worked in a very under-served community, Porsche was the silver lining for her students. Without hesitation, she would buy her students winter jackets, shoes and clothes. Whenever there was a need, Porsche fullfilled it. She would even bribe her classroom with dance parties, one of their favorite things to do. Porsche loved those kids and considered them her own.
When Porsche would visit family back home in Muncie, one of her favorite things to do was to watch her dad and brother race. She also enjoyed watching football on Sundays with her dad after church.
On May 11, 2016, Porsche gave birth to her beautiful daughter Addison Marie Mullin. Porsche treasured all the moments she was able to spend with her daughter, whether in the hospital, therapies or in the comfort of her own home, Porsche enjoyed watching her beautiful baby grow into and incredible little girl. She was her precious gift from God. Addison enjoyed reading countless books to her mommy, cuddling and watching movies with her, and holding her hand and singing her songs.
Porsche not only wore the titles of daughter, mother and teacher, but she was also a beloved aunt. She enjoyed the laughter-filled visits from her nieces and nephews. Her brother, Robbie A. Wyman, and sister-in-law, Hannah (Lundy) Wyman have 4 children together: Brooks (9), Luke and Lundy (6) and Leo (3). Her sister, Shelby A. (Wyman) Winget and brother-in-law, Garret Winget, have 2 children: Eleanor (3) and Warren (1). It was no secret that all of her nieces and nephews loved her dearly.
After Porsche’s brain injury, her Dad and Mom (Rob and Laura Wyman) filled the shoes of caregiver. They, without a second thought, laid down their lives for the last 10 years to make sure their precious little girl was taken care of. They fought for Porsche when she had no voice. Through all of the days that seemed impossible to get through, they were there, exemplifying what it means to be faithful to what the Lord had called them to do. Alongside her parents, Porsche’s brother and sister, who also helped provide care and whatever else was needed to Porsche and her parents.
We celebrate Porsche, in her hard fought battle to be here with her daughter and be the mother she always wanted to be. We glorify God for seeing her and her family through these last 10 years. There wasn’t a single person that met Porsche that wasn’t touched by her story and changed by her strength.
A heartfelt ‘thank you’ is given to the Emergency Department and ICU staff at IUH Ball Memorial Hospital who have cared for Porsche over the years. The compassion and intimate care you provided for Porsche and her family will be forever treasured in their hearts.
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former pain has passed away.”
-James 1:12
